The Promodoro is a time management technique developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. In this time management technique, a task is divided into short intervals with the help of a timer and a short break taken as a reward after the completion of that time period.

In the Promodoro technique, the length of a task is usually 25 minutes, cause it is the perfect length of time to help you stay focused, be productive, and not to be procrastinated while working on any task. The Time interval of 25 minutes is not too long and short, it creates a sense of urgency and not to be procrastinated while completing the task.

To manage a task through this technique you have to identify a task and total time for completion. Break that task into reasonable parts, set a timer of 25 minutes, and work on it. Take a 4 to 5 minutes break for being relaxed. Repeat this cycle 4 to 5 times and then take a long 20 to 25 minutes break.

Process of using Promodoro technique

Select a work to be done and calculates the total time required

Divide it into parts and set a timer

Take brake after timer rings

Repeat it till completion of the whole work

Take 20 to 25 minutes break after completing the work

My experience of Promodoro

I use the Promodoro technique and start working on my PW4. I turn off the internet and notifications. I set an alarm of 25 minutes and start working. After 25 minutes I took 5 minutes break and listen to music. I repeat this technique 4 times and then took a long 20 minutes break and start walking. I realize that I have completed almost 85% of the total work in just 2 hours.

In the beginning, it was quite difficult to focus only on work for 25 minutes. It seems like I’m working for an hour and I need to check my mobile. But later on, it becomes easy and interesting.

This technique is really helpful to keep your brain focused on a particular task. Perform a single task at one time with complete attention. I completed my 85% of work in just 2 hours that took 4 to 5 hours normally. I will try to keep this routine continue and repeated the technique to get used to it in the future.
